What is the Creative Industries Council
Skillset Skills Group?

The Creative Industries Council Skillset Skills Group was convened by Skillset and tasked by DCMS, BIS and the Creative Industries Council to examine the skills issues facing the UK's creative industries. It is one of three sub-groups of the Creative Industries Council.

Led by Skillset and bringing together creative industry leaders, the Group explored in depth the challenges and opportunities facing the creative sector. The recommendations in the report offer industry-led solutions to support growth and worldwide competitiveness.

The group met four times between July and December 2011 before issuing the report and recommendations to the Creative Industries Council. You can download and read a PDF of the Group's Terms of Reference here.

What is the Creative Industries Council?

The Creative Industries Council was a forum for key creative industries figures and Government to engage in a joined-up way to instigate industry-led approaches to boosting growth and competitiveness.

It was formed following a recommendation of the Growth Review and examined three areas which are essential for growth:

• Skills
• Access to finance
• ‘Routes to scale’ (infrastructure, exports innovation and intellectual property)

 
Who is on the Creative Industries Council Skillset Skills Group

Skillset was asked to establish and lead the work of the Creative Industries Council on skills. It brought together representatives covering the whole spectrum of the creative industries including trade bodies, trade unions and industry support organisations.
